Kevlar® threads are produced from Kevlar® a manufactured fiber in which the forming substance is a long chain synthetic polyamide contaning at least 85% of the amide linkages attached directly to two aromatic rings. This para-aramid thread is one of the strongest and most fire retardent industrial threads with a break strength 5 times greater than steel wire and 2.5 times stronger than nylon or polyester threads. Other unique properties include excellent flame resistance, abrasion resistance, and thermal stability. Kevlar® Thread meets MIL-T-87128.

Common applications: heavy duty clothing sewing, conveyor belt manufacturing, race car apparel, plastic or fiber reinforcement

Decomposition: Begins to decompose at about 800°F in air by oxidation.
Melting Point: Does not melt
Solubility in Water: Insoluble to water.
Odor: Oderless.
Color: Natural Color Only-Yellow
Effects of Acids & Alkalis: Good resistance to dilute acids and bases. Degrades by strong mineral acids, to a lesser extent by mineral bases.
Effects of Bleach & Solvents: Kevlar® threads should not be bleached. Execllent solvent resistance.
Effects of Mildew, UV, & Abrasion: Excellent resistance to Mildew with minimal breakdown. Prolonged UV exposure causes deterioration. Good abrasion resistance.
