DuPont® Teflon™ FEP (Type A) & PFA (Type LP) are optically clear Teflon™ films that benefit from the ability to be thermoformed, heat-sealed, plastic-welded or bonded. PFA film is very similar to FEP Film, except it has a higher melting point of (302C to 310C vs. FEP’s melt range of 260C to 280C). PFA Film is recommended over FEP Film for applications that require superior creep resistance at high temperatures, low-temperature toughness, and a higher flame resistance. Teflon™ PTFE fluoropolymers are the most inert of all plastics and complie with USFDA regulations for food contact applications. FEP and PFA films possess superior anti-stick, low friction properties, strength and puncture resistance, chemical & solvent resistance, as well as high dielectric strength (over 7000 volts per mil for 1 mil). No electrical tracking, non-wettable (hydrophobic), non-flammable, non-charring and long term weatherabilliy. CS Hyde FEP & PFA films offer superior reliability & retention of properties over large areas. FEP film meets the requirements of ASTM D-3368.
FEP & PFA Applications:
- Chemical resistant liners (tanks & diaphragms)
- Optics lenses
- Release liners (DLP & SLA 3D Printer VAT Systems)
- Solar Receptors
FEP Film & PFA Film is available in rolls, sheets, or custom width rolls. CS Hyde also has in house capabilities to laminate adhesive to FEP & PFA Film.
Teflon™ Fluoroplastic is a trademark of The Chemours Company FC, LLC used under license by CS Hyde Company.
CS Hyde Company stocks skived PTFE (Polytetrafluoroethylene) film in a huge range of thicknesses, starting at .5 mil (.0005") and going up to 125mil (.125”). We sell this high performance PTFE film by the sheet, lineal foot, continuous footage, slit width (rolls), die cut (custom AND standard shapes), and/or laminated with a variety of adhesive options. PTFE is inherently super slippery and extremely temperature/chemical resistant, making it a highly suitable material to be used as a release sheet. Etched PTFE Film available in a variety of thickness and etched on one or two sides. Chemical etching enhances adhesion and makes PTFE film bondable utilizing a variety of different types of transfer adhesive, epoxy, or liquid adhesives without diminishing PTFE’s performance properties.
Renowned for its non-stick properties, PTFE film ensures effortless release, making it ideal for applications where friction reduction and non-stick properties are paramount. Although its non-stick properties can be ideal, it can also make it extremely hard to bond to itself or another substrate. CS Hyde specializes in PTFE adhesive lamination and can apply a variety of adhesives to various PTFE film thickness. Adhesive backed PTFE can be supplied in rolls, sheets, or die cut parts.
The types of adhesives we apply include Acrylic, High Bond Acrylic, and Silicone.
Whether it's in food processing, industrial machinery, or aerospace technology, etched PTFE film exhibits superior application properties bondable to your application.
Common Questions:
Does etching alter the properties of PTFE?
Etching consists of altering the chemical composition of the fluoropolymer and not necessarily the material itself. Etching only affects a depth of a few angstroms or (one ten millionth of a millimeter) in correlation to the thickness of the PTFE and does affect its physical properties throughout the entirety of the film.
Appearance of Etched PTFE?
In comparison to natural skived PTFE the non-treated side will a blue/gray color instead of pure white in correlation to our skived PTFE. The etched side will have a light tan to dark brown coloration like a wood grain finish. This may look streaky or blotchy in appearance. This coloration can alter from one lot to another and can be visually lighter or darker depending on thickness of the PTFE.
Etched PTFE Availability?
We manufacture specialty film tapes derived from etched PTFE, so we commonly have etched material in stock. If you’re looking for a large roll length, custom width, or a specific etched film thickness, please submit an RFQ and we can quote the most accurate lead time for delivery. For online orders the standard lead time is 2-3 business days.
