3M 966 is a 2 mil. acrylic adhesive transfer tape designed for temperature exposure up to 450°F (232°C) for short periods and/or solvent resistance. This adhesive has exceptional shear values even at elevated temperatures. Designed with NASA guidelines in mind this adhesive also meets NASA guidelines for low “outgassing” materials, an important consideration for the aerospace, automotive, and electronic industries.

Features:

  • Excellent bond to metal and (HSE) high surface energy plastics.
  • Outstanding temperature: 3M adhesive 100 is usable for short periods (minutes, hours) at temperatures up to 450°F (232°C) and for longer periods (days, weeks) up to 300°F (149°C).
  • Low outgassing and low leachable chloride.
  • Chemical resistance: When properly applied, tape will hold securely after exposure to numerous chemicals including gasoline, oil, Freon™, sodium chloride solution, mild acids and alkalis.

Innovating with 966

CS Hyde can laminate 966 to a variety of substrates either to customer supplied materials or a variety of polymer films including Kapton® Polyimide, Mylar® PET, Nylon. We specialize in converting polymer films tapes utilizing polymers that commonly do not have an adhesive backing. This allows us to work with customers to develop custom bondable solutions for wire/harness wrapping, component insulation, barrier protection, or protective overlays.

Two specialty film tapes that feature 3M 966 include: 18-1A-XC Electrically Conductive Kapton® and Standard Kapton® Film with 3M 966.
