FEP & PFA films are PTFE (Teflon™ fluoroplastic) based films that benefit from the ability to be thermoformed, heat-sealed, plastic-welded or bonded. PFA film is very similar to FEP, except its higher melting point (302C to 310C vs. FEP’s melt range of 260C to 280C). PTFE is the most inert of all plastics and complies with US FDA regulations for safe use with food. FEP and PFA films possess superior anti-stick, low friction properties, as well as high dielectric strength (over 7000 volts per mil for 1 mil). No electrical tracking, non-wettable (hydrophobic), non-flammable, non-charring. We are proud to offer superior reliability & retention of properties over large areas of these films. Mylar® is a DuPont® developed and manufactured oriented, multi-use, versatile polyester (PET) film. Throughout our catalog, a few characteristics unitize this product line; Mylar® does not become brittle with age under normal conditions because there are no plasticizers, it is archival quality, dimensionally stable, chemical resistant, color consistent, good clarity, non-yellowing, non-tearing, temperature range of -100 to 300F, electrically insulating, balanced tensile properties, and excellent moisture resistance (non-wettable). CS Hyde Company carries three types of Mylar® film, Type A (standard industry grade), optically clear, and metalized.
Type A Mylar® is our standard grade PET film. It is a tough, general purpose film that’s transparent in 48 (.5mil) through 92 gauge (1mil), and translucent in higher thicknesses.
Optically Clear Polyester PET film features similar qualities, except this product is transparent up to 10mil thickness.
Metalized Polyester PET film features a bright metallic finish and is available in stock in silver finish. Silver metalized Polyester PET film has a super reflective, mirror-like surface.
Mylar® Polyester PET is ideally suited for a wide range of uses such as packaging, printing, electronics, protective overlay, barrier protection, apparel and many industrial applications. Because of Mylar® Polyester's inherent physical properties, it's a great choice if you are looking for a high performance plastic film/sheet. Custom sized sheeting available.
CS Hyde Company offers two types of high performance polycarbonate film; type GG (gloss/gloss surface) and type VM (Velvet/Matte surface). Polycarbonate films have exceptional impact strength, weatherability and thermoformability. With higher strength than acrylic and better dimensional stability than Mylar®, our polycarbonate film is a great all around high performace material. Tefzel® Optically Clear Film is an extremely durable, thin polymeric film closely related to PTFE fluorocarbon resin. Of all the PTFE fluoropolymer family, Tefzel® (ETFE) is the most tough/ durable. Flexible and nearly 100 percent transparent, Tefzel® Optically Clear Film has excellent mechanical strength and reliability against cracking and abrasion. In outdoor applications, Tefzel® shows very little degradation over a long period of time despite constant UV radiation exposure, making it a suitable long term substitute for glass. Tefzel® Optically Clear Film features easy processibility and high-energy radiation resistance.
Film types are:Type LZ--General-purpose film, Type CLZ--Treated one-side for improved cementability, and Type CLZ-20--Treated both sides for improved cementability. Tefzel® films can be thermoformed, laminated, heat-sealed, die-stamped, and oriented for use in many applications including high flex lightweight wiring insulation, composite part mold release, anti-corrosive valve linings, non-stick roll covers, rupture disks, high frequency microwave circuitry, pharmaceutical cap liners, sterile packaging, cable insulation, microphone electret membranes, photovoltaic cell glazing, anti-graffiti coverings, erasable surface coverings, automotive airbag systems, fuel hose permeation barrier, hot melt adhesive and thousands more possible applications.
